Mr. Brooks is currently in his sixth year as the agricultual education instructor at Midland Valley.  He is a 2002 graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Agricultural Education.

Midland Valley Young Farmer Association Named South Carolina Adult Program of the Year.
The Midland Valley Young Farmer Association, which is the adult agriculture program for Midland Valley community members, was named by the South Carolina Association of Agricultural Educators as the Adult Education Program of the Year in the State of South Carolina.  The group which typically meets every third Tuesday of the month will now be competing for the title of National Adult Program of the Year for 2009.

Midland Valley FFA Archery Team Member Finishes 1st Place in State Tournament
Midland Valley High School freshman, Andrew Atkinson, finished in 1st place at the Fourth Annual South Carolina Archery in the Schools Tournament held as part of the Sportsman Classic in Columbia South Carolina on March 27, 2009.  Atkinson who has been shooting on the FFA Archery Team since this past October will now be eligible to shoot in the National Archery in the Schools Tournament, which will be held in Louisville Kentuck on May 9th and 10th.  For his extreme efforts Andrew was presented with a personalized plaque and metal as well as a custom Mathews Genesis bow to use at the National Tournament.

Patrick H. - President

   Patrick is a rising senior at Midland Valley High School were he is entering his third year in the agriculture program.  Besides his envolvement with teh FFA Patrick also is captain of the cross country team and helps out with teh girls basketball team. 


Aaron A. - Vice President

   Aaron is a rising senior at Midland Valley High School were he is entering into his third year in the agriculture program.  Aaron is also captain of the FFA Archery Team and involved in the electricity program at the Aiken County Career and Technology Center.


Aaron F. - Secretary

   Aaron is a rising Junior at Midland Valley HIgh School were he is entering into his second year in the agriculture program.  Aaron can be found most days working on various projects around the laboratory whether before during or after school. 


Laurna J. - Treasurer

   Laurna is a rising Junior at Midland Valley High School were she will be entering into her second year with the agriculture program.  Besides being envolved in the FFA Laurna is extremely invovled in her church. 


Devon P. - Reporter

   Devon is a rising Junior at Midland Valley High School were she is entering into her second year with the agriculture program.  Besides being involved with the FFA Devon also plays on the Midland Valley High School Volleyball Team. 


Midland Valley FFA Association Wins South Carolina Governor's Citation
The Midland Valley FFA Chapter has been named a Gold Emblem Chapter for 2009 and awarded the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment as the Outstanding Student Development Program in the state.  The presentation was made at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus.

The prestigious award was presented to Devon Puckett, FFA chapter reporter, and Jeremy Brooks, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor, by Larry Rogers, an official with the USDA Farm Service Agency which sponsors the Recognition Program at the state and national level.

The chapter also received a check for $1,000 from the South Carolina Rural Rehabilitation Corporation, a co-sponsor of the awards program. The check was presented by Charles Springs, chairman of the corporation.

The chapter will now compete for selection as the Outstanding Community Development Program in the nation.
